As founding president of the ASU Hispanic Business Alumni Chapter I was featured along with the current HBA Chapter President Tristin Ochoa, and business student Kaitlyn Marx.

I love getting to speak to students. Recently I gave a talk titled “Developing your stories: Guidance from a renowned writer about identity.”

In 2009 I was nominated to be a Corn Mother along with my Godmother, Nellie Escobedo Plasencio.

The 2023 Festive of Books did not disappoint. I enjoyed listening to several Latinx authors. I had the opportunity to reunite with Dr. Miguel Montiel and Dr. Yvonne de la Torre Montiel, two former colleagues during my time as a student and staff member at Arizona State University.

In February 2023, the University of Arizona Poetry Center featured Juan Felipe Herrera, the 21st United States Poet Laureate from 2015 to 2017.
