United States Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera

In February 2023, the University of Arizona Poetry Center featured Juan Felipe Herrera, the 21st United States Poet Laureate from 2015 to 2017.  He is a major figure in the literary field of Chicano poetry and is a performer, cartoonist, teacher, and activist. I enjoyed his enthusiastic readings in English and Spanish. His book, Every Day We Get More Illegal, caused me to think more deeply about immigration and how it impacts all of us.
